Our Methodology
How we analyse matchups, generate picks, and rate operators.
Every pick published on PicksHub is the output of a structured analytical process. We combine proprietary models with market data and contextual factors to surface edges that casual bettors typically miss.
Our approach is intentionally systematic. We believe consistent methodology beats hot takes — and we publish our record so you can judge the results for yourself.
The Process
01Data Collection
We aggregate inputs from a range of sources including historical performance data, recent form, head-to-head records, injury reports, line movement, and market sentiment. The breadth of data varies by sport but the principle is the same: more signal, less noise.
02Model Analysis
Our models process the collected data to generate probability estimates for each outcome. We use a blend of statistical techniques and pattern recognition to arrive at a projected win probability for each side of a matchup.
03Value Identification
A projected probability alone isn't a pick. We compare our model output against available market odds to identify where the implied probability diverges from our estimate. Picks are only published when we find meaningful expected value.
04Contextual Review
Before anything goes live, each pick is reviewed for contextual factors that models can underweight: scheduling dynamics, travel, weather, motivational edges, and public betting trends. This layer acts as a sanity check on the raw numbers.
05Publication & Tracking
Every pick is published with a confidence level and the reasoning behind it. After the event, results are recorded transparently. No picks are edited or removed after the fact.
How We Rate Operators
Sportsbook and casino ratings follow a separate but equally structured process. We evaluate each operator across several dimensions:
Bonus Value
We look beyond the headline number. Rollover requirements, minimum odds, expiry windows, and eligible markets all factor into our assessment of real bonus value.
Product Quality
App stability, bet slip experience, live betting depth, and available markets. We evaluate the day-to-day experience, not just the sign-up flow.
Payout & Banking
Withdrawal speed, available payment methods (with emphasis on Canadian options like Interac), and any fees or limits that affect the player experience.
Licensing & Trust
We only feature operators that hold valid licences from recognised Canadian regulators. Compliance history and responsible gambling tools are weighted heavily.
A Note on Transparency
No model is perfect. We get picks wrong, and when we do, those losses are recorded and reflected in our public track record just like the wins. We don’t cherry-pick results or hide bad stretches.
We also don’t disclose the full technical details of our models — that’s our edge. But we do commit to showing you the reasoning behind every pick and letting the long-term record speak for itself.
